Assigning and swapping cleaners

Assign a cleaner to a shift in CleanLog, and swap them out when plans change. Every assignment change is logged on the record, so you keep an audit trail.

Updated

Assign a cleaner to a shift and they see it on their phone right away. When plans change, swap the assignment to someone else in a couple of taps. Every change is logged on the record, so you always know who was scheduled, who covered, and when it changed.

How do I assign a cleaner to a shift?

  1. Open Schedule and find the shift you want to staff.
  2. Assign one or more cleaners to it.
  3. The assigned cleaners see the shift on their mobile app.

Assign before the day arrives, not on the morning of. Once assigned, the cleaner can clock in when they reach the site, and those verified hours flow straight into payroll. Need to set up the shift first? See creating a cleaning schedule.

How do I swap one cleaner for another?

Open the shift, remove the current cleaner, and assign the replacement. The swap takes effect immediately: it drops off the first cleaner’s app and appears on the new cleaner’s. You do not rebuild the shift, you just change who covers it.

Swap as soon as you know plans have changed. The earlier you reassign, the more notice the new cleaner gets, and the less chance of a no-show on the day.

Is the change logged?

Yes. Every assignment change is recorded on the shift: who was assigned, who replaced them, and when the swap happened. Nothing is silently overwritten. That trail answers “who was supposed to be there” later without anyone reconstructing it from memory.

The same record carries the actual clock-ins, so you can compare who was scheduled against who showed up and clocked in.

What if it repeats every week?

Every shift on the schedule is its own assignment, even when it lands on the same weekday week after week. Swap one as you would any other: open it, change the cleaner, save. For a permanent change, swap each upcoming shift the same way.

Where to go next

When a swap is really a gap with no one to fill it yet, see covering a shift gap. To get a new cleaner ready to be assigned, start with inviting your team and getting cleaners on the mobile app.
